Energy & Emissions Calculations
Part of our goal at Earth Aid Enterprises is to go a step beyond just offering the best in home-upgrade and energy-efficient products by adding an educational component to our work. Below, we explain why the products in our Earth Aid Kits™ are so valuable in the effort to curb greenhouse gas (in particular Carbon Dioxide) emissions.
The following is a list of our products with their projected annual energy savings, annual financial savings, and annual Carbon Dioxide (CO2) reduction for the average American under normal conditions. In many cases the benefits will be greater than these figures, and in many cases they will be lower. Either way, the benefits are recurring as long as the product is in use from year-to-year! These baseline calculations are the same ones used to keep the Million Car Carbon Campaign™ tally. All assumptions and sources are cited. The following assumptions apply to multiple calculations:
Electricity costs an average of $0.10 ⁄ kWh.
For every kWh of electricity generation, 1.55lbs of CO2 are produced.
The average automobile in the United States generates 11,560lbs of CO2 annually.
Transmission losses are 7.2% (meaning that for every 100 kWh of power generated, only 92.8 kWh reach a point-of-use such as a wall socket).

NOTE: All calculations are per item unless otherwise stated. For example if you buy three light bulbs, the savings and reductions noted below would triple.
